This week our school along with others in the nation are striving to make "respect" a permanent concept on our campus.  We are having teacher flash mobs that are singing and dancing to the song "RESPECT", having written and illustration contests on the statement, "It takes COURAGE to show  RESPECT."  My students will be adding posts throughout the week to express their thoughts on what respect means to them, what it looks like, what it feels like and more.  Stay tuned!!!  Respect All!!!!

RESPECT
Respect is when you have respect for yourself and others.  Respect means to me that your parents have raised you strong and powerful and respectful to others.  You want to show respect  by agreeing with adults.  Saying they're right even if they're wrong at times.  Lastly just showing that you care don't  show that you don't care because that makes you look bad and if you are try to look cool.  Well it doesn't make you look good. It makes you look like your parents didn't raise you right.  I would like respect shown to me like being nice, giving time to think, having to just have some room.  And lastly just being very kind.  And that is what respect is to me.   From Laura

Well hello all.  This began as an assignment for one of my professional development classes but in just a few short days the idea has really started to take off.  My students are so excited to start a classroom blog.  This is a classroom for 6, 7, and 8th grade students with a range of medical and learning disabilities.  They are with me the entire school day with the exception of one class period a day so the thought of communicating with students across the nation and possibly around the world has them jumping in their seats.  A few, quite literally!  My hope for this blog is that we all become more savvy when it comes to technology but that it will also allow my students to bloom and grow into young adults that can overcome whatever challenges are thrown at them.
